Privacy policy
Last updated October 22, 2026
Seeding keeps all of your data on your device. We don't collect, receive or share any of your personal information.
What the app stores on your device
Seeding saves the following in a local database in the app's private storage on your phone. Other apps can't read it, and it is never sent to us or anyone else.
- Your journey: the start date, relapse records (time, optional notes and tags), logged wins (time, categories, optional notes), and the streaks and statistics worked out from them.
- Settings: theme, notification preferences, whether app lock is on, and any custom tags you create.
- Achievements: which milestones and badges you've unlocked, and when.
What we don't collect
Seeding has no account, no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. We never receive your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, usage data or anything about your recovery.
The app has no crash reporting of its own. If you've allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google Play may show us anonymous crash and performance statistics for the app. That comes from Google under its own privacy policy, and never includes your journey, notes or anything you enter in Seeding.
How the app uses your data
Only on your device, to show your progress and statistics, work out insights and patterns, unlock achievements, and schedule the local notifications you turn on. We don't use your data for advertising, sell it, build profiles from it or train AI models on it.
Sharing and third parties
We don't share any data with third parties. Seeding contains no third-party analytics, advertising, social media or cloud storage services.
Your data only leaves your device if you export it with Export to Excel in Settings, which hands the file to your phone's share sheet so you choose where it goes, or if your phone's own system backup includes it (see below).
How your data is protected
- Local database: Seeding does not add its own encryption to the database. It relies on your phone's built-in storage encryption, which is standard on modern Android phones and iPhones. A screen lock (PIN, pattern or password) is what makes that encryption effective, so we recommend using one.
- Secure storage: the app lock setting is kept in the operating system's encrypted keystore (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain).
- App lock: you can require your fingerprint, face or device passcode to open Seeding.
- Exported files: Excel exports are not encrypted, so store and share them carefully.
Your phone's system backup
If your phone's system backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud Backup on iPhone), the operating system may include Seeding's data in that backup, stored in your own Google or Apple account. This backup is run by your phone and your account provider, not by Seeding, and we cannot access it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings.
Your choices
- See it: all of your data is visible in the app.
- Export it: Settings, then Export to Excel.
- Delete it: delete single entries in History, or erase everything with Settings, then Reset all data. Uninstalling the app also removes it from your device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, we can't recover it after you delete it, uninstall the app or reset your phone. Export it first if you want to keep a copy.
Permissions
- Notifications (optional): for reminders and milestone alerts. You can turn them off in Seeding or in your phone's settings.
- Biometrics (optional): only if you turn on app lock. Your fingerprint or face data stays with your phone's operating system; Seeding never sees it.
Children
Seeding doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you're a parent or guardian with questions, contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top. If we ever add an optional online feature, such as cloud backup, it will be opt-in and explained here before it ships.
